Activities during Changing from Structure Mode to Pipeline Mode

 Structure main Equipment onboard DLB

DLB changing mode is normal offshore. But sometimes ‘office based personnel’ are not aware that changing mode activities are CRITICAL activities. But with proper plan, most of the activities can be performed concurrent.

  • Complete weld jacket topside connection.
  • Move out min. 500m from newly installed platform.
  • Bring alongside material barge (Some call it as an Asset Barge)
  • Transfer all Structure mode equipment to material barge.
    • Hammer
    • Heavy lift slings
    • ILT (Internal Lifting Tools)
    • Other installation aids (i.e. Bear clamp, jacking equipment)
    • Cut off & surplus (If applicable)
  • Transfer all Pipeline mode equipment from Material Barge to DLB
    • Pulling head/start-up head
    • Lifting sling
    • Deadman Anchor (if applicable)
    • Other Installation Aids
  • Finally Lift, install & trimm stinger
  • Meanwhile activities
    • Replace tensioner shoes
    • Prepare tunnel for pipeline installation
    • Fill up tunnel with line pipes
    • Pickup anchor and ReSetup for pipeline startup

Various project might require different approach due to different project requirement, scheduling, environmental constraint & other contractual requirement.
