The issue was discussed during SEAPOG EPRES (South East Asia Pipeline Operators Group Emergency Pipeline Repair Equipment Sharing) meeting.  The possible emergency pipeline repair equipment to be shared includes:

• Pressure containment clamps.
• Composite repair equipment.
• Mechanical connectors.
• Elbow bends and connectors.
• Line pipes.

I strongly believe that PLIDCO will be one of the items considered in this pool of resources.  So next time should any pipeline repair tender coming out, the methodology will be driven by resources available within the PSC.  As my personal experience in one of the pipeline repair job,  PLIDCO was not considered during that time.  The more ‘primitive’ approach was used since the job does not affecting the production.  The methodology used was, CUT & REPLACE with spool.  Btw, for those who are not very familiar with PLIDCO, here is the video stating their strength in pipeline repair.

14th January 2009 I was assigned to ensure work site preparation are in order and safe for the activity in compliance to the PCSB SHe and work pack requirement.

The challenge of this activity is performing welding on the life 2″ pipe which carries aproximately 40 KB/D liquid (crude, gas and water) at 10000 kpa pressure.To ensure this activity can be perform safely the pipeline flow rate have to be constant, post weld temperature are maintain at 150 degrees C and not exceeding 250 degree C.

Among the tools are use for temperature monitoring are temperature sensors that will disable the welding activities as the temperature reach 230 Degrees C. Thermography Flir P65 camera to study the heat pattern on the welded surface during welding and also the infra red thermometers for spot measurement.

The pipe was finally drilled on January 27th @ 2220 hrs.

Local authorities, insurance companies or anyone that has had to hire in teams of professional divers to Inspecting underwater structures, sea protection barriers and water tanks, know only to well it can be a very costly business indeed. These modern days of health and safety awareness bring many problems associated with working underwater in poor conditions and with it the extra costs involved. Breathing compressed air in water has time limiting restrictions for divers and depending on the depths the diver has to work, the danger of air bubbles becoming trapped in their blood stream increase. Professional divers therefore have to stick stringently to following dive tables or dive depth computers that limit the amount of time that they can spend working underwater.

It is now possible to carry out underwater inspection while at the same time removing the time constraints that divers have when working underwater buy using a small remote control vehicle fitted with video, powerful lights and a camera on board. Videoray ROV can provide clear colour images in real time to the pilot on the surface and makes inspection and underwater surveys safer and more cost effective. For underwater inspections, the Videoray can be equipped with a high-resolution camera, wide-angle lens and sonar. Since Videoray weighs only eight pounds, and is highly maneuverable it can easily fit into smaller areas than a diver could, such as pipes, drains, hulls and in between structures.

The images are clear and in colour and will show damage, corrosion, defects and underwater structural problems up-close. In order to control future damage and to prove that regular inspections have taken place, video footage of the inspection can be kept on record for future examination. If there is extensive damage to an underwater structure, identification is usually quicker and if necessary divers can be called in to carry out repairs in a shorter time period. Future inspections can be conducted to prove that the necessary repairs have been made to meet all current safety standards. This is particularly important when it comes to public places or structures used by people on a daily basis.

What is ServiWrap

For the protection of butt weld joints against corrosion damage on concrete weight coated submarine pipelines, where the joints will be infilled with hot marine mastic, PU Foam or other forms of infill materials.
System

A two componenet cold applied tape system, consisting of a PVC carrier, plus a self adhesive compound. The main role of the carrier is to bring the tape’s adhesive compound to the pipe’s surface and to provide mechanical and heat protection whilst the joint area is being infilled. Once the joint is completed, the tape’s adhesive compound provides the anti-corrosion coating and the marine mastic, or other infill material, the primary mechanical protection.

Charateristics

The product is designed to resist both past weld heat, plus the abrasive effects and heat of the marine mastic infill poured in excess of 210 degree celcius or the exothermic reaction of the foam in excess of 100 degree celcius. It displays a high degree of adhesion between the bare steel in the weld area and to the adjoining mill applied coating. It is compatible with, and exhibits excellent adhesion to, most factory coatings including Enamels, F.B.E (Fusion Bonded Epoxy), Polyethylene and Polypropylene. It exhibits a marked affinity to the marin mastic at the interface of the two materials; desirable to limit spalling of the mastic due to impact from trawl boards.

Protective interleaf.

Overwidth silicone coated interleas paper prevents edge of the roll dirt ‘pick-up’ during site handling. It is removed as application takes place.

Many aspects have to be considered by the ergonomists to asses the fit between a person and their work. These include the following:-

• The physical environment ( temperature, humidity, lighting, noise vibration)
• The information used (how it is presented, accessed and changed)
• The social environment change ( such as team work and supportive management)
