PETRONAS AWARDED TWO EXPLORATION BLOCKS OFFSHORE BAHRAIN

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPetroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) has been awarded two exploration blocks, namely Blocks IV and VI, by the Government of Bahrain.

The blocks, located southeastern offshore Bahrain, were awarded on 22 September 2001 based on a proposal submitted by PETRONAS in June 2001 following the Government of Bahrain’s call for tender issued in March for three blocks, namely Blocks IV, V and VI. Several international oil companies submitted their proposals for the three blocks. Blocks IV and VI were awarded to PETRONAS on a Production Sharing Arrangement basis and PETRONAS will be the operator for the two blocks. (more…)

PETRONAS CLARIFIES STATUS OF OVERSEAS OPERATIONS

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsFollowing inconsistencies in reports carried by newswire services yesterday and several newspapers today on the status of PETRONAS‘ overseas operations amid heightened concerns following the recent incidents in the United States, PETRONAS wishes to clarify that its operations in Sudan and Pakistan have not been affected.

However, PETRONAS is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of its employees in these areas and elsewhere. (more…)

PETRONAS DISCOVERS NEW OIL FIELD OFFSHORE VIETNAM

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPetroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), the national petroleum corporation of Malaysia, has discovered a new oil field offshore Vietnam.

The discovery was made through the Topaz North-1X exploration well in Blocks 01 and 02, situated about 168 kilometres offshore Vietnam. The Topaz North Field is about 13 km east of the Ruby Field which is currently producing about 23,000 barrels of oil per day (BPD). (more…)

PETRONAS SECURES THIRD EXPLORATION BLOCK IN INDONESIA

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS is pleased to announce that its bid for the Tanjung Aru Block, in the Makassar Straits, offshore Kalimantan, Indonesia has been successful. The bid award which is subject to Presidential approval and execution of the Production Sharing Contract (PSC), will see PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PETRONAS Carigali), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, hold a 50 percent working interest in the Tanjung Aru Block with Amerada Hess acting as operator having the other 50 percent equity.

The Tanjung Aru Block, which covers some 4,160 sq km with water depths ranging from 150 metres to 1,700 metres, is in the highly prospective Kutei Basin where a number of large oil and gas discoveries have been made in the last few years. (more…)
