PETRONAS APPOINTS SUTER RACING PRODUCTS TO PROVIDE ENGINE MANUFACTURING DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
PETRONAS, Malaysia’s national petroleum corporation, has appointed Suter Racing Products (SRP) to further develop and manufacture its high-performance motorcycle engine in preparation for the Foggy PETRONAS Racing team’s entry in the World Superbike Championship later this year.
SRP is a Swiss-based company with expertise and competency in advanced motorcycle engineering and development as well as the manufacturing of motorcycle components and parts. The company has worked with a number of major motorcycle racing teams and original equipment manufacturers including Aprilia, Kawasaki and Yamaha.
Under the terms of the appointment, SRP will provide engine manufacturing development services to Foggy PETRONAS Racing, further developing PETRONAS’ motorcycle engine for both the team’s superbike race and road programmes. The race version of the superbike is expected to make its debut in the championship at Monza in May. (more…)

PETRONAS EXTENDS SCHOLARSHIP TO THAI STUDENTS
Chana, Thailand, 22 January 2002 — Some 44 students from seven schools in Southern Thailand today received minor scholarship awards from PETRONAS, Malaysia’s national petroleum corporation. They formed the third batch of students from this part of Thailand to receive PETRONAS’ scholarship to assist them in their studies.
The scholarship awards were presented to the students at a ceremony held here by PETRONAS’ Vice-President of Education Puan Mariam Rahimah Mukhtar.
The award of the scholarship to the students is part of a larger effort by PETRONAS, as enshrined in its Mission Statement, to help contribute to the well-being of the people and the nation where it has business operations. PETRONAS has been offering scholarship to students in southern Thailand since 1999. To date, 122 secondary school students and 17 undergraduates from the Prince of Songkhla University have been offered PETRONAS’ scholarship worth about 16,830,000.00 baht (about RM168,300.00). PETRONAS, PERTAMINA AND PETROVIETNAM IN JOINT UPSTREAM COOPERATION IN VIETNAM
PETRONAS today signed a Petroleum Contract with PetroVietnam and Pertamina to jointly explore for and develop hydrocarbon resources in Blocks 10 and 11.1 offshore Vietnam. Under the contract, the three national oil companies will form a joint venture company to operate the blocks, marking the first of such alliance within the ambit of the Tripartite Cooperation Arrangement between the three counterparts.
The new joint outfit, Con Son Joint Operating Company, will see the participation of PetroVietnam Investment & Development Company (40 per cent), PETRONAS Carigali Overseas Sdn Bhd (30 per cent) and Pertamina (30 per cent). PetroVietnam Investment & Development Company (PIDC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PetroVietnam, while PETRONAS Carigali Overseas (PCOSB) is an overseas exploration and production arm of PETRONAS.
