PETRONAS’ subsidiary, PETRONAS NGV Sdn Bhd (PNGV), today signed a three-year Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) with Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) to introduce the natural gas-powered vehicles, the Enviro 2000, in the Philippines as well as to jointly promote the use of natural gas for vehicle (NGV) in that country.
Under the MoU, PNGV and PNOC will pool their resources and expertise to embark on a six-month field demonstration in Manila involving six units of the Enviro 2000. The two parties will also undertake a joint feasibility study on the development of other NGV-related businesses in the Philippines. These would include areas like NGV refuelling station construction and operation, promotion and marketing of NGV and production of bi-fuel and monofuel NGV vehicles in the Philippines. The six units will be one of the major highlights during the Philippines’ Independence Day celebrations on 12 June 2002.
The field demonstration will also serve as part of PETRONAS’ overall plans to promote and create market awareness of NGV and Enviro 2000 outside Malaysia, in line with its continuous efforts to increase the usage of the cleaner, cheaper and environment-friendly alternative fuel.
