PETRONAS CONTRIBUTES RM1 MILLION TO XIII NAM SUMMIT
PETRONAS is the official fuel sponsor for the 13th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 20 to 25 February 2003.As the official fuel sponsor, PETRONAS will contribute a total of RM1 million mainly in the form of fuel for use by more than 1,000 official vehicles during the Summit. The contribution also includes the sponsorship of 41 Summit announcement billboards located at strategic locations within Kuala Lumpur, KL International Airport and Putrajaya.
A short presentation ceremony was held today at Wisma Putra in Putrajaya where PETRONAS President & Chief Executive Tan Sri Dato’ Mohd Hassan Marican handed over the contribution to Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Syed Hamid Albar. (more…)
EXPIRY OF MALAYSIA’S FIRST LNG JOINT VENTURE
Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) wishes to announce the expiry of the 20-year Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) for Malaysia’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) project on 8 February 2003.In accordance with the terms of the JVA signed on 31 March 1978 both Shell Gas B.V. and Mitsubishi Corporation have ceased to be partners in the joint venture and their respective 15 per cent stakes in Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG) have been purchased by PETRONAS.
MLNG owns and operates Malaysia’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant. Located in Bintulu, Sarawak, the plant commenced operation in 1983 with a nameplate capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum (mmtpa). Currently, the plant produces 8.1 million tonnes (mmtpa) of LNG annually and the LNG is exported mainly to Japan on long-term contracts. In its 20 years of operation, MLNG has earned the trust and respect from the industry and has built a reputation as a reliable supplier of LNG. (more…)
