PETRONAS INTRODUCES MOBILE LIBRARY TO SUDANESE SCHOOL CHILDREN

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsKhartoum, 31 August 2004: PETRONAS, Malaysia’s petroleum corporation, today officially launched its mobile library that will be introduced to students of primary schools around Khartoum.

The first of its kind in Sudan, the PETRONAS Mobile Library is the result of collaboration between PETRONAS and the Khartoum State Ministry of Education. The main objective of the project is to encourage good reading habits among primary school students and to provide them an avenue to pursue and acquire information and knowledge. (more…)

PETRONAS TRANS SAHARA 2004 EXPEDITION FLAGGED-OFF IN KHARTOUM

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsKhartoum, 30 August 2004: PETRONAS Adventure Team (PAT), after successfully completing five extremely challenging international outings, was flagged-off for its sixth annual overland adventure, the PETRONAS Trans Sahara 2004 Expedition.

The flag-off ceremony was officiated by His Excellency Dr. Awad Ahmed Al Jazz, the Minister of Energy and Mining, the Republic of the Sudan. Accompanying Dr. Awad were Mr. Zainal Rashid Mokhtar, Chairman of PETRONAS Sudan, and His Excellency Mohd Zamri Mohd Kassim, the Malaysian Ambassador to the Republic of the Sudan. The ceremony was organised at the PETRONAS Service Station in Amarat, held today to coincide with the fifth anniversary of Sudan’s First Oil and on the eve of Malaysia’s 47th Independence anniversary. PETRONAS ADVENTURE TEAM MEMBERS AND STAFF REFURBISH KHARTOUM SCHOOL

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsKhartoum, 28 August 2004: The Taeeb Sayed Basic School in Khartoum today was given a “face-lift” when members of the PETRONAS Adventure Team currently on its PETRONAS Trans Sahara 2004 expedition made a stop at the school to participate in a PETRONAS community development programme.

The Team, together with members of the PETRONAS staff and Malaysian students based in Khartoum, rolled up their sleeves and took part in a “refurbishment” programme at the school. They worked hand-in-hand to re-tile and re-paint several sections of the school as well as participated in landscaping activities to help beautify the school grounds. (more…)

PETRONAS CARIGALI DRILLS MALAYSIA’S LONGEST WELL

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned exploration and production arm of PETRONAS, has reached another milestone in Malaysia’s oil and gas exploration history when it drilled the country’s longest development well to date.

The Angsi A-28ST-1 well, drilled at the Angsi oil and gas field offshore Peninsular Malaysia, reached its total depth of 6,339 metres on 11 August, just 44 days after it was spudded on June 29. (more…)

PETRONAS SETS UP E&P VISUALISATION CENTRE

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS has set up a state-of-the-art 3D immersive visualisation centre, a facility that will significantly enhance its capability in the interpretation and evaluation of upstream data and greatly improve its upstream decision making processes.

The Centre, located in Tower 2 of the PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, is the first of such facility to be owned by a national oil company in Southeast Asia. It is equipped with the latest immersive visualisation technology with a 12-foot radius rear-lit curved screen, three edge-blended 6000 lumens digital light processing projectors and is driven by the latest visualisation system. PETRONAS LAUNCHES MARKETING ARM IN CHINA

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsShenzhen, China, 25 June 2004: PETRONAS, Malaysia’s integrated oil and gas corporation, today launched a new subsidiary company in China, signifying its commitment to establish a long-term presence in this country as part of the corporation’s global expansion strategy.

The subsidiary, known as PETRONAS Marketing China Company Ltd (PMCCL), will enable PETRONAS to further pave its way into the downstream sector of China’s petroleum industry. The new company, which will make Shenzhen its base, will be engaged in strategising and managing PETRONAS’ planned expansion of its petroleum products retail and marketing activities in selected markets in China. It will also provide PETRONAS with a platform to move in the future into other related businesses in the country. (more…)
