PETRONAS PLANS TO PARTNER WITH BMW
PETRONAS plans to continue participating in Formula One by extending its long-standing partnership arrangement with Sauber to the new BMW managed team starting in 2006. PETRONAS will be discussing with representatives of the new team on its potential participation soon.
It was announced yesterday that BMW is acquiring majority interest in Sauber Holding, the company that operates the SAUBER PETRONAS team in the FIA Formula One World Championship. PETRONAS has been kept well informed of the progress of discussions between BMW and Sauber officials and has been supportive towards the move as it offers the team the possibility of improving their sporting performance. MLNG TIGA TO SUPPLY LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS TO KOREA GAS CORPORATION
Malaysia LNG Tiga Sdn Bhd (MLNG Tiga), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, today signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) to supply up to two million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for 20 years beginning 2008, with an option to extend for another five years. KOGAS has selected MLNG Tiga as one of its preferred suppliers from 12 bidders that participated in a tender exercise carried out by the South Korean importer late last year.
The LNG will be supplied to KOGAS from the PETRONAS LNG Complex in Bintulu. The LNG will be transported from Bintulu to KOGAS receiving terminals in Pyeong Taek, Incheon and Tong Young in South Korea by LNG vessels owned and operated by Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Bhd, a subsidiary of PETRONAS. Kuala Lumpur, 11 July 2005: About 40 international experts on natural gas, natural gas for vehicles (NGV) and related businesses and technologies will converge in Kuala Lumpur from 26 to 28 July 2005 for the inaugural Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles Association (ANGVA)’s Conference and Exhibition or ANGVA 2005.
The three-day Exhibition and Conference, to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, will be officiated by Malaysia’s Minister of Transport Dato’ Sri Chan Kong Choy. It is jointly organised by ANGVA, PETRONAS and the Malaysian Gas Association and carries the theme of “Natural Gas for Vehicles – The Fuel of Choice”. (more…)

PETRONAS-SHELL MALAYSIA JOINT VENTURE MAKES FIFTH SUCCESSIVE DISCOVERY
CS Mutiara Petroleum Sdn Bhd, a 50:50 joint venture company between PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd and Shell Exploration and Production Malaysia B.V., has made another gas discovery in Block PM301, off the northeast coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The Bunga Kesumba-1 well, located in a water depth of 55 metres, was spudded on 28 May 2005. It was drilled to a total depth of 1,430 metres and encountered multiple gas zones. Further technical evaluation is required to determine the volumes present.
Bunga Kesumba-1 is CS Mutiara Petroleum’s fifth discovery in Block PM301, following the consecutive exploration successes of Bunga Kamelia, Bunga Zetung, Bunga Anggerik and Bumi South. The well is located about 15 kilometres southeast of the Bumi South gas discovery in February 2005. (more…)
