Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS is pleased to announce a new gas discovery at its PC4 gas field, offshore Sarawak. The PC4-1 exploration well, situated about 108 kilometres northwest of Miri in a water depth of 73 metres was spudded in January 2006 and reached a final total depth of 3,273 metres below sea level.The well, drilled by PETRONAS in its efforts to discover more gas reserves, encountered a single gas column of 630 metres, which is a new record for Sarawak. This new gas discovery has potential for development. It also opens up the potential of the surrounding area where several prospects of a similar type have been identified. Other gas fields in the vicinity of the PC4 discovery are F38, F2 Attic, B12 and the gas producing B11 field.

In December 2005, PETRONAS announced its Kanowit gas discovery. In view of this continued success, PETRONAS is optimistic of its efforts to enhance hydrocarbon reserves for the benefit of the country. (more…)

PETRONAS LAUNCHES FIRST SERVICE STATION IN INDONESIA

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS today officially opened its first service station in Indonesia, marking its entry into the the country’s retail marketing business.

The service station was officially launched by Indonesia’s Director of Oil and Gas Processing and Marketing Erie Soedarmo. Also present was PETRONAS Vice President Oil Business Datuk Anuar Ahmad. (more…)

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS today officially opened its first service station in Indonesia, marking its entry into the the country’s retail marketing business.The service station was officially launched by Indonesia’s Director of Oil and Gas Processing and Marketing Erie Soedarmo. Also present was PETRONAS Vice President Oil Business Datuk Anuar Ahmad.

The launch marks an important milestone in PETRONAS’ business involvement in Indonesia and demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to the development of the country’s oil and gas sector. The Group is already one of the more active international oil and gas companies in Indonesia - both in the upstream and downstream sectors. PETRONAS’ integrated business in Indonesia includes interests in upstream assets in Karapan, Ketapang, Tanjung Jabung, Jabung, Natuna Sea Block A, North East Madura IV, Madura and Muriah blocks while in the downstream sector, the Group has interest in a consortium that owns and operates two natural gas pipelines in Sumatra and a lubricants marketing outfit. MLNG TIGA TO SUPPLY LNG TO TOHO GAS

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsMalaysia LNG Tiga Sdn Bhd (MLNG Tiga), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, today signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Toho Gas Co., Ltd., (Toho Gas) to supply 520,000 metric tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for 20 years beginning 2007.
The LNG will be supplied to Toho Gas from the PETRONAS LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak and will be transported from Bintulu to Toho Gas’ receiving terminal in Chita, Japan on ex-ship basis by LNG tankers owned and operated by MISC Bhd., a subsidiary of PETRONAS. (more…)

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsMalaysia LNG Tiga Sdn Bhd (MLNG Tiga), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, today signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Toho Gas Co., Ltd., (Toho Gas) to supply 520,000 metric tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for 20 years beginning 2007.
The LNG will be supplied to Toho Gas from the PETRONAS LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak and will be transported from Bintulu to Toho Gas’ receiving terminal in Chita, Japan on ex-ship basis by LNG tankers owned and operated by MISC Bhd., a subsidiary of PETRONAS.

Toho Gas, the third largest gas company in Japan, has been importing LNG from Malaysia since 1995 under a 20-year supply contract with Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG), another PETRONAS subsidiary. The contract was signed in 1994 through a consortium of Japanese companies of which Toho Gas is a member. In 2002, the consortium signed a contract with MLNG Tiga for the supply of LNG for a period of 20 years from 2004.

Toho Gas currently receives more than 500,000 metric tonnes per annum supply of LNG from the Malaysia LNG companies under the existing long-term contracts. With the signing of today’s SPA, the total supply commitment to Toho Gas now stands at more than 1.0 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). The new SPA is also the first supply deal for Toho Gas as a single buyer. (more…)
