PETRONAS AWARDED NEW BLOCK IN INDONESIA

Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS, through its wholly owned subsidiary PC (Lampung II) Ltd., has been awarded a new offshore block in Indonesia, bringing PETRONAS’ upstream interests in Indonesia to nine blocks.The Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the latest block, the Lampung II, was signed last Friday in Jakarta.

The Lampung II Block, measuring about 4,168 square kilometres, is located about 150 km east off the southeastern coast of Sumatra. Under the PSC terms, PC Lampung II will acquire, process and interpret 250 square km of 3D seismic data, drill two exploration wells and undertake geological and geophysical studies over the acreage. Petronas Offshore Oil & Gas Latest NewsPETRONAS on Wednesday held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its Group III lubricant base oil plant, the first of its kind in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.The base oil plant, located within the PETRONAS Refinery Complex in Melaka, is scheduled to come onstream in 2008. It will have the capacity to produce 6,500 barrels per day or about 300,000 metric tons per year of Group III base oils, a major component in the manufacture of top-tier energy-conserving automotive and industrial lubricants.
