Here is the summary of OIC responsibility on the scope of pipeline pre-commissioning work during typical shallow water pipelay operations:

The pre-commissioning activities of the Pipeline system will typically including; gauging, cleaning, pigging and hydrostatic testing, drying/nitrogen purge. The OIC is also (most of the time) responsible in supplying and installing all necessary equipment for the pre-commissioning work i.e. temporary pig launchers/receivers, valves hydrostatic test heads, flanges, blind flanges and the like. Here is the summary of OIC responsibility on the scope of shore approach work during typical shallow water pipelay operations:

Site preparation and pre-installation surveys of the landfall sections on the beach. Beach will be surveyed 1000 meters on both sides of the Pipeline route.
Mobilisation of civil works including all measures for ensuring security, safety and environmental aspects of the work. (more…)

Here is the summary of OIC responsibilities during typical shallow water pipelay operations:

Installing a barge real time electronic positioning system onboard the lay barge and onboard the anchor handling vessel. This is a mandatory requirement to ensure safe operation during anchor running & maneuvering of all marine vessels. All anchor handling operations will be suspended if the system on any of the vessels is not operational. (more…)

Subsea Pipeline Installation : Pre-Installation Route Surveys

Here is the summary of OIC responsibility on the scope of Pre-Installation Route survey during typical shallow water pipelay operations:

To shall carry out a pre-installation route survey along the proposed route of all Pipelines including expansion spools to be installed.

The pre-installation route survey shall be completed about 2 months prior to commencing pipelaying activities. This to give time to change the pipelay route should there is any obstructions or anomalies along the route. (more…)
