Offshore Oil & Gas Future Development

Today i got an email from fauzan_se[a]yahoo.com asking me about the roles & responsibility of Instrumentation Engineer. He have an interview next week. Since i’m not really involved in other than Offshore Construction activities; Control/Instrumentation is something alien to me. But below is a brief of Control/Instrumentation engineer’s scope of work based on clients contractual requirement;

JOB PURPOSE :
To ensure that the design activities relative to the electrical, instrumentation and telecomms aspect of the Company’s design and manufacturing activities are carried out in a competent manner, and in accordance with acceptable engineering standards, and to ensure the correct engineering, installation and testing of electrical, instrumentation and telecomms related work is carried out to the requirements and targets of the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Ensuring that the design of electrical, instrumentation and telecomms aspects of installations are carried out in accordance with the relevant codes, standards and client specification.
• Ensuring that the control and monitoring of expenditure on electrical, instrumentation and telecomms aspects of projects and installations is effectively carried out within budget.
• Supervising the correct selection of materials plant and equipment, and quantifying , procuring and monitoring the progress of materials plant and equipment through all stages of projects.
• Ensuring that materials, plant and equipment requirements are timeously identified and procured effectively and efficiently within the given project timescale.
• Liaising with other Discipline Engineers and Project Managers.

OTHER DUTIES

• To carry out any other duties as may reasonably be assigned from time to time.
