MDPP Jacket Installation
MDPP Jacket owned by CPOC a joint operating company between Petronas Carigali and PTTEPI was launched on 18-Dec-08. The jacket with an estimated weight of 4551 MT was launched and self-upright few seconds after it seperated with the launch barge SLB-1. With a total buoyancy of 6196MT, the jacket dived into the water and self upend seconds later.
Then, it was all the Marine Captain job to wet tow the jacket 10Nm to the installation location. Using 4 tugs connected to the special floating ropes with breaking load of 430MT, the jacket arrived at location 15 hours later with an average towing speed of 1-2 knots.
At location, the jacket custodian was the transffered to Sapura 3000, the Derrick Vessel. Approach the jacket with DP mode, with swell height of 1.2-1.6m coming from NE to NNE direction, it took hours to secure the jacket at Sapura 3000’s stern.
Crew were then transffered on the jacket deck and rigging platform to flood the jacket legs and hook-up lifting slings to main block. The jacket legs were then flooded to stabilize and level the jacket before Sapura 3000 move to setting position.
Will write later on the jacket setting and piling activities.

Salam. First time I’ve heard of a jacket being named. Also, why did they drop it 10Nm from the final site? Seems far if they towed the thing into the middle of the sea, might as well tow it to the final anchor site.

Salam Mr Razmahwata. The jacket was launched about 10Nm away from the final site as we need to have deeper water depth and sufficient clearance in between the jacket and seabed. Thanks for the thought.

Jacket ini di buat untuk CPOC module JDA BLOCK 17 ker?
Kalau betul, top side nya baru selesai di install bulan October lepas bukan?

Yup. The jacket was installed in CPOC JDA BLOCK 17. But, x sure kalau topside diaorg install bulan October, dengar2 bulan July or August topside tu been installed.

Heheheh..tak salah lagi…The topside was fabricated in SMOE.
