Pre-Loadout, Loadout And Transportation : Jacket & Topside Installation Procedure ( Fixed Offshore Structure )

Picture showing lifting of topside by Asian Hercules to the transportation barge. In this case, Topside, Tripod Jacket, Piles, Conductor & all shiploose items are loaded onto the same transportation Barge. If Im not mistaken, this picture taken at Ramunia Fabricators Teluk Ramunia Johore Malaysia.
This section is part of the fixed offshore structure installation procedure. To view & navigate the table of content, please click here.
PRE-LOADOUT, LOADOUT AND TRANSPORTATION
The platform comprising of Jacket, Main Piles, Conductors, Boat Landings and Topside was fabricated by the Client nominated fabricator. Below are examples of Fabrication Yards avaliable in Malaysia.
- Ramunia Fabricator Sdn. Bhd. (RFSB), Teluk Ramunia, Johor, Malaysia.
- Sime Sembawang (Sime Engineering), Pasir Gudang Johore, Malaysia.
- MMHE (Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering), Pasir Gudang Johore, Malaysia. Formerly known as MSE (Malaysia Shipyard & Engineering)
- HL Engineering Lumut Perak, Malaysia
- Oil Corp, Klang Selangor Malaysia. (Personnaly i havent been there)
- Brooke Dockyard, Sarawak, Malaysia.
- Pulau Jerjak, Malaysia (I cant remember what company operating in Pulau Jerjak, But i heard there is a fabrication yard there)
Pre-Loadout : Platform Pre-Rigging
Jacket Side Lift/Upend Rigging
The jacket & Topside will have a temporary rigging platform pre-installed at the fabrication yard to accommodate the jacket side lift and upend slings, which will be pre-rigged at the fabrication yard. The installation contractor will always ensure this rigging is correct as per the procedure. It is happen where fabricator sometimes installed the slings or shackles wrongly. Close monitoring by OIC Loadout Coordinator is super crucial here…
Loadout and Transportation
The platform components will be loaded out and transported to the installation site on the following transportation barges:
- Jacket Component Loaded onto Transporation Barges. Example of transportation 300 class barges are Poe Giant 1
- Jacket (Weight ranging from 400Mt to 800Mt or more)
- Main Piles
- Conductors
- Transition Piece
- Boat Landing
- Shim plates
- Shiploose items for the jacket
- Topside Component Loaded to Transporation Barges. Example of transportation 280 class barges are Sealink pacific 381
- Topside (Weight ranging from 400Mt to 2500Mt)
- Client Supplied Material
- Shiploose items for the Topside
A detailed review of all components and material loaded out will be conducted and checked against the loadout list in “ Loadout Coordination Manual for Jacket and Topsideâ€. This loadout list must be approved by client. Any additional lift will be very costly to the OIC.
Loadout coordination manual is a separate document. This document covering the interface between Fabrication yard and OIC during Jacket/topside fabrications & the loadout operations.
The transportation barge will arrive at the fabrication yard with all tanks de-ballasted. Again this is depend on the contract requirement. A gas free check of all ballast tanks will be carried out upon arrival of barge at the fabrication yard’s wharf.
Gas free is required to ensure there is no flamable gas/liquid inside ballast tank therefore it is safe for hot work.
