Status Update : Job Vacancies (Pipeline Engineer, Structural Engineer & Naval/Marine Engineer)
Its another day in the office, assisting my boss the General Manager of Engineering Business unit sorting piles of resume for the position listed below.
From hundreds of resume, only 2 or 3 candidates are pass from this first filter. What i’m going to list here is the ‘insider information’ about what really the criteria required for the advertised position. (Criteria given by the General Manager himself)
- CGPA 3.0 and above or Less but have an oil & gas experience more than 1 year.
- Civil or Mechanical Degree ONLY
- Male or
- Female from Oil & Gas Consulting Company.
- Age less than 30
- Single Preferred
- Experience in oil & gas Company will be an added advantage
Those who have an experience working with Technip, MMHE, Ranhill Worley, SDE (Sime Darby Engineering), Aker, Pegasus, RNZ Integrated, Intec, MMC or other Oil & Gas consulting company will ultimately have an added advantage (Especially for female candidates)
For Male : Those who have an experience working with Fabricators, other Offshore construction contractor or sub-contractor will also qualify for this firs filter exercise.
& Those who have non-related experience but full fill the requirement no. 1 & 2 plus aged less than 27 will also be considered.

Structural Engineer
Responsibilities:
To perform the following engineering scope of work:
- Conductor hang-off studies.
- Jacket on bottom stability analyses.
- Padeyes/trunnion designs.
- Pile/Conductor stick-up studies.
- Pile Driveability analyses.
- Hammer selection studies.
- Structural damage/repair studies.
- Welding design & sizing.
- Structural checks & certification.
- Miscellaneous.
- Familiar with software i.e. ACAD, SAC, GRLWEAP & etc.
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Naval-Marine Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 2-3 years experience in the oil and gas industry with i.e. Offshore Installation Contractor, Consultant or Fabricator.
Pipeline Engineer
Responsibilities:
To perform the following engineering scope of work:
- Pipelay analyses using pipelay barge.
- Riser installation & davit lifts analyses.
- Pipeline spanning calculations.
- Weld repair calculations.
- Stinger ballast calculations check.
- Pipeline sidewalking analyses.
- Abandonment & recovery analyses.
- Pipeline bow-string & anchor start up.
- Midpoint tie-in analyses.
- Pipeline on-bottom stability check.
- Familiar with software i.e. ACAD, OFF-PIPE & etc.
Requirements:
Naval/Marine Engineer
Responsibilities:
To perform the following engineering scope of work:
- Launching/Up-ending/Transportation
/Seafastening analyses. - Barge deck strength checks.
- Mooring analyses.
- Stability Checks.
- Miscellaneous.
- Familiar with software i.e. ACAD, SAC, MOSES & etc.
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Naval-Marine Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 2-3 years experience in the oil and gas industry with i.e. Offshore Installation Contractor, Consultant or Fabricator.

Why Civil or Mechanical Degree ONLY? That seems unfair to me, I have a pipeline engineering degree, female, less than 30 years old, single, working in the O&G industry. what if I were to apply the position of Pipeline Engineer?

Firstly, is there any vacancy left for me? ;p Im working as technical exec at MMHE Pasir Gudang. im a degree holder from local university in mechanical-marine technology. My job now covered structure drawing,MTO, padeye design and lifting arangement, structure analysis using FEA (Nastran 2003),raised purchase request,scantling, involve in Inclining test and lightship survey and many others.
Secondly, my currrent salary is just rm 2134 with experience 1 year 2 months. How much SapuraCrest would offer to a person like me (if chosen) (include allowance)?
