STARTING SWLP FOR THE FIRST TIMEGet all these P&ID available for reference F-0218, F-0207, F-0208, F-0209, F-0210, F-0212, F-0219, F-0218.
- Ensure seawater service pumps are in operation and ready for backfill discharge header of SWLP from check valve upstream XV-6920 to PCV-4000 and manual valve upstream of feed pumps (P-4000).
- Manually close PCV-4000 to overboard line seawater caisson.
- Open 2” manual crossover line from seawater service discharge header to upstream of feed pumps and close return line to seawater service caisson A/B.
- Open manual crossover 2″ line from seawater service discharge header to upstream of feed pumps and close return line to seawater service caisson A/B.
- Open vents valve on SWLP basket strainers S-6020A/B/C/D and slowly fill up the discharge header and when water begins to come out of the vents, close the vent valve and crossover line. Close block valve to the caisson of seawater service P-5150A/B. Refer P&ID F-0218. First SWLP ready to start.
- Ensure all pressure switches, gauges and flow switch are open.
- Manually set at the DCS PCV-4000 to open 20%.
- Close power breaker for pump motor 6.6 KV SG-7510 Bus A
- Ensure all PMVR-6900A/B/C/D (float type auto release air) and manual valve downstream of strainers is open.
- Line up all instrumentation and pressure gauges.
- Start the pump manually from DCS, the discharge valve XV-6920 should ramps open 20 seconds after the pump runs. Simultaneously ensure the chlorine discharge valve XV-6900 is open.
- If the discharge valve XV-6920 fails to open within 30 seconds the SWLP will shutdown on FZALL-6901.
- Slowly open PCV-4000 until pressure reaches 100 Kpa and put on auto control. Recommended flow rate for each SWLP range between 1200 to 1450 KL/D.
2ND & 3RD SWLP START UP PROCEDURE
Subsequently the next SWLP start does not require pressurization or priming of the discharge header. Just ensure the following are in order.
- PCV-4000 on auto control set @ 100 Kpa.
- Close power breaker for pump motor 6.6 KV.
- Ensure all PMVR-6900 (float type auto release air) and manual valve downstream of strainers are open.
- Line up all instrumentation and pressure gauges.
- Start the pump manually from DCS, the discharge valve XV-6920 should ramps open 20 seconds after the pump runs. Simultaneously ensure the chlorine discharge valve XV-6900 is open.
- If the discharge valve XV-6920 fails to open after 30 seconds, FZALL-6901 will trigger the pump to stop.
- Slowly open PCV-4000 until pressure reaches 100 Kpa and put on auto control. Recommended flow rate for each SWLP range between 1200 to 1450 KL/D.
- Proceed to start the third pump if required.
NOTE: Ensure an Operation Technician to standby at field to monitor every time the SWLP start.
