PETRONAS today launched its range of breakthrough lubricants – the PETRONAS SYNTIUM 5000 – the first in Malaysia to have exceeded the stringent performance standards of API SM and ILSAC GF-4 set by two renowned international governing bodies, the American Petroleum Institute (API) and International Lubricants Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC).
The fully synthetic PETRONAS SYNTIUM 5000 range is the next generation of environment-friendly lubricants that provides better fuel economy, outstanding power output, superior engine cleanliness and superior engine protection. This in turn will result in extended engine life and enhance its performance. This product range comes in two viscosities – SYNTIUM 5000 0W-30 and SYNTIUM 5000 0W-40.
The new generation SYNTIUM 5000 lubricants also comply with the strict environment-friendly emission control regulation sets by the USA Environmental Protection Agency. Motorists stand to benefit from the lower emission, which in turn contributes to cleaner air and environment, as well as enjoying better fuel economy and superior performance of their vehicles. PETRONAS introduced the two high performance lubricants to cater for use in high performance cars.
The newly launched range of PETRONAS SYNTIUM 5000 lubricants was born from in-house research and development (R&D) conducted at the PETRONAS Research and Scientific Services (PRSS) laboratory. The new products mark another significant milestone in the company’s R&D capabilities towards the production of high quality products of international standards.
The SYNTIUM 5000 0W-30 and SYNTIUM 5000 0W-40 underwent stringent lab and field tests including extensive field tests with Mercedes Benz and BMW automobiles. After 80,000 kilometres, engine parts of the vehicles were assessed by an European independent tester who gave the lubricants an “Excellent” rating in terms of engine cleanliness and protection. This independent rating was subsequently validated by the original equipment manufacturers’ assessors.
Other tests conducted proved that both viscosities showed superior power output, better fuel economy, prolonged engine life, excellent wear protection under all extreme driving conditions, excellent engine cleanliness, longer drain interval and efficient cold engine start-up.
Apart from the breakthrough products, PETRONAS has also enhanced the formulations of its existing synthetic lubricants, SYNTIUM 3000 and SYNTIUM 1000, to meet the latest API SM standard. The SYNTIUM 5000, 3000 and 1000 series are developed from unique formulations of synthetic base oil using the experience of PETRONAS’ involvement in the Formula One race.
With the launch of SYNTIUM 5000 0W-30 and SYNTIUM 5000 0W-40 today, PETRONAS now has the widest range of engine oils under the SYNTIUM family, from semi-synthetic to fully synthetic and premium synthetic lubricants.
The new PETRONAS SYNTIUM 5000 products are sold in 4-litre and 1-litre packs; and are immediately available at selected PETRONAS service stations.
